3 Reasons Social HRMS Will Improve HR Communication

These are exciting times for those of us in HR circles! Technology has never been better, enabling us to do more and better things for our employees and internal customers. At the top of the list of innovations is social HRMS; these tools enable internal and external communication in your HR department, which is a win-win for everyone. Are you ready to learn how social collaboration can empower your HR team to new heights? Read on to learn how social network integration can improve internal and external communication in any HR department.

1) Social HRMS Provides Communication Avenues in Uncharted Territory

Do you remember the days of paper resumes and job postings in newspapers? My, my how things have changed! These days, your employees are all networked in LinkedIn and other social sites - and hopefully integrated into your HRMS too.

This is prime ground to enable employees to help in HR activities such as recruiting new candidates from among their friends and colleagues. I spoke to an HR Director recently who explained that he had no recruitment costs - all of his candidates came from employee referrals. Enabling this functionality in your HRMS using social features automates this process to bring good candidates into your organization, through putting these job requisitions in front of your employees through their usual social media communication methods.

2) HR Communication to Employees is Empowered via Social Media

Most HR teams are good communicators; this is what HR does best. However, why limit your HR team to just verbal communication and emails? In particular, if you are a globally disparate team, you need a social HRMS to pull it all together. Want to talk about an employee trend or a hard to place position? Put it on a discussion area in your social HRMS and watch the ideas and collaboration explode. Social HRMS not only gives HR another communication route, it causes a huge expansion of collaboration by bringing together people who are not normally so easily connected.

3) Social HRMS Enables More Transparency and Information Sharing

How often have we heard that HR is a ‘closed shop’? While HR may have a plethora of great development opportunities and prospects for employee enrichment, they are not worth much if they are not known or understood. Social HRMS is your way to get out good news, and in particular to target the right population via your core HRMS data. Do you offer tuition reimbursement or employee referral bonuses? Identify your target audience for these programs and use your social HRMS to put banner announcements and other notifications in front of these employees in your social HRMS.

While social HRMS cannot solve all of your open HR issues, if you are not using this means of communication, you are losing a valuable, low-cost method of addressing challenges.
