Five features of a standout HRMS demo

An HRMS demo is a necessary part of the process of choosing the correct HRMS for your requirements. Not all demos are created equal, how can you be sure that you are not missing anything? Here are five features that you’ll see at a standout HRMS demo.

1. Use of a connected, live environment

Sales materials and presentations can provide good information but nothing is better than being shown a live environment where you can see an HRMS in action and even ask questions that take the presenter off of the sales script. The results will often provide make or break feedback to your decision.

2. Volume and diversity of data

An HRMS that provides a static, one-dimensional dataset in a demo is usually reflecting a simple system underneath. A knockout demo will showcase a full set of employee data in a variety of scenarios and situations so that you can see how much the HRMS can do. A dataset that is only 20 employees who are all active and hired in the past few months does not contribute much to a demo.

3. User interaction

HRMS in today’s market are intuitive and easy to use and many have the selling point that minimal training is needed. A standout demo will prove that point by allowing someone in the room to take control and to work their way through the screens to see if they are user-friendly. Many vendors will tread carefully in this area and not give up control but a well-planned demo should incorporate one or two of your users at distinct points in the demo to get a read out if the HRMS truly is user-friendly.

4. Tailored to your company

A standout HRMS demo will make you want to purchase the application. One of the key selling points is if you can imagine using the HRMS to do your daily work. The demo should be customized to reflect your industry and the possible ways that you would find the HRMS beneficial. If you don’t have temps or contingent workers then the non-employee module is a waste of demo time. If you struggle with open enrollment, focusing on how the HRMS can simplify this process is a win.

5. Highlights the ease of tasks

It’s one thing to say that workflow is easy to adjust, it’s another thing if you see it done in 30 seconds in front of you. A standout demo backs up the sales pitch with visible examples. Don’t be afraid to ask to see something during a demo, if a sales consultant says that it is simple to do then it should be easy to demonstrate.
