Five signs your HRMS selection project was a huge success

Everyone hopes for a successful HRMS implementation. When you’ve chosen the correct application all of your hard work and dedication during the selection phase will pay off. How will you know that your efforts have been successful? Here are five signs that your HRMS selection project has been a massive accomplishment.

1. There was a clear winner in the selection process

Sometimes the selection phase can drag on beyond its original timing. It can be due to a number of factors such as strong vendor offerings, indecisive stakeholders or ambiguous requirements. When you have robust and clear requirements and supportive stakeholders sometimes a perfect winner emerges easily. A stress-free selection cycle is an achievement.

2. Employees are requesting to join a future implementation team

The interest of HR employees in your selection project is often a good indicator of success. I have seen projects where employees felt that the chosen software was not a good match for business needs. In these cases the employees did not want to be a part of the implementation team. When employees are interested and excited about the selection outcome it’s a good indicator that the right decision was made.

3. The selection process identified quantifiable advantages

An HRMS purchase will cost both time and money. As you put together your business case the numbers will tell the story. A hugely successful selection project will identify a low cost solution due to the cost savings it will produce.

4. You’ve generated interest outside of HR

The HR function is sometimes seen as a back office or administrative function. The HRMS is a tool to perform needed tasks like payroll.. When colleagues in finance, sales, marketing and manufacturing start to take an interest in the product you’ve selected - perhaps due to a great self-service function or easy integration options - you’re creating positive awareness of the benefits a good HR department can bring to the business.

5. Top management is using you as an example

The HR team is often working behind the scenes to ensure that the personnel side of business operations is working well. Management at the C level is aware of big ticket items like an HRMS selection. A measure of accomplishment is when leadership begins to reference your selection project during key company speeches. When your election project catches their attention and your project is used as an example it’s a definite endorsement of your success.
